The first few months since we released the Social App have been very exciting! We’ve seen hundreds of events leverage the app’s networking and sharing capabilities to boost attendee engagement, and they’ve done so with very impressive results. We’re seeing new usage records set every week with thousands photos and messages shared, averages as high as 59 sessions per user during a 3 day event, and extremely high adoption rates.
Its fantastic to see that kind of engagement, and we’re excited to announce a few improvements today that are designed to make the Social App’s networking experience even better.
See who joins the app:
We added a new story to the timeline that will attendees about new people connecting to the app. Every few minutes the app will check for new profiles created and will publish a story notifying other attendees about who joins the app. Pulling information about who’s connecting and posting it to the timeline will help encourage new connections and ease discovery.
Attendees can now connect with each other on LinkedIn or follow each other on Twitter right in the app! All attendees have to do is connect LinkedIn or Facebook to their Social App profiles and they can start making new connections.
Sign up with Email:
Attendees can now connect to the Social App using their email address and create a profile from scratch. Previously the app only allowed sign ups by connecting existing social profiles like LinkedIn or Facebook, but due to popular demand we added email sign ups as well. The process takes just a few seconds and Attendees can always connect their social profiles later.
We also added Google+ as a way to connect to the app and setup a profile. In the future we’ll look to do a lot more with Google+ including enabling cross posting and other features to make the social experience richer.
Updating to the Latest Version:
To access new features your existing Social App has to be resubmitted to both Apple and Google for review. We will automatically resubmit apps for events that are more than 10 business days away to allow enough time for the review process. You can also request an upgrade of your app by sending an email to email@example.com and specifying your App ID#, which can be found on the dashboard after logging into your Attendify account.
